Excellent Golden Age comics have a lead character very much like today's version of Batman. He's a no-nonsense vigilante out for justice, which often comes at the end of a rope. Top-flight artist Bob Fujitani is years ahead of many of his Golden Age contemporaries. DC Comics recently attempted a revival of this character and other MLJ Comics heroes, but they turned out to only be one-shots (even though they were written by top scribe J. Michael Straczynski). Paul Reinman, who would later draw the revivals of MLJ Comics' characters in the late '60s super-hero titles published by Archie Comics and Mighty Comics, adds two stories per issue featuring "The Boy Buddies" (The Shield's sidekick, Dusty the Boy Detective, and The Wizard's tag-along, Roy the Super Boy). As usual with comics of this vintage, the color registration is off with the masks especially bleeding into the wrong spaces. But this can only be rectified by an expensive process of removing the color and then re-coloring the stories, which would double the cost of these books for collectors.
